Mikayla Reed was plenty impressive Nov. 5, when her state championship-winning cross country performance opened a lot of eyes.

Finished team-best 66th in Illinois Class 3A state meet with team-best time of 18:00 on 3-mile course. Also had team's highest sectional finish at 13th.

Fifth individually at district and sixth at sectional before finishing 31st at Missouri Class 4 state meet. Helped Longhorns win team titles at each meet leading up to state, where they were sixth.

Won individual title of All-Suburban meet with time of 18:52.80 that ranks as fourth-fastest in the area this season. Also third at district, ninth at sectional and 24th in Missouri Class 4 state meet.
